Designing for a Global Touring Experience

'The Castle' is a large-scale immersive musical experience, bringing audiences closer to the music of Disney’s most iconic films through live performances set against a striking central stage.

The challenge was to develop a tensile solution that could integrate seamlessly into a highly creative environment, while meeting the practical demands of a touring production. The structure needed to be lightweight, demountable and repeatable across multiple locations, without compromising on visual impact or performance.

Engineered Fabric Sails for Touring Performance

We worked closely with the design team to deliver a series of bespoke tensile fabric sails, providing detailed engineering input, patterning and fabrication of the membrane structures.

Each element was developed with precision, incorporating cables and tensioning systems to ensure structural integrity and visual consistency across the installation. Delivered within a tight seven-week programme, the project required close coordination between design, manufacturing and on-site teams.

Our involvement extended through to installation, with site supervision and guidance provided to ensure smooth assembly and efficient demounting for future tour locations.

An Immersive Venue, Delivered at Scale

The completed structure plays a central role in transforming 'The Lion King' venue into a fully immersive musical environment, enhancing both performance and audience experience.

By combining creative collaboration with precise engineering, the project demonstrates how tensile architecture can support large-scale touring productions, delivering adaptable, repeatable solutions that perform across multiple locations while maintaining a consistent visual identity.
