Fraser Shirley

Director | Head of Projects & Quality Management

Fraser has been with Base Structures for more than 17 years, building his career through a wide range of roles across both site operations and project leadership. He originally joined the company as a rope access technician and rigger before moving into the office as Installations Co-ordinator. From there, he progressed through positions including Project Manager and Commercial Projects & Contracts Manager, before becoming Director and Head of Projects.

Having worked across almost every stage of delivery, Fraser brings a practical understanding of how complex tensile structure projects come together, from installation and logistics through to commercial management and client coordination. Today, he oversees projects across the business, supporting teams from early planning through to completion.

Over the years, highlights have included the University of Nottingham Amenity Building as Project Director and Manager, the Science Museum in London with Zaha Hadid Architects, Ben Ainslie Racing HQ in Portsmouth, the Walkway and Terminus Canopies at Edinburgh Airport and the Sky Bridge at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The University of Nottingham project remains especially memorable due to its scale and complexity. Delivering what was, at the time, one of the most technically demanding projects the company had undertaken was a significant achievement for both Fraser and the wider team.

What Fraser enjoys most about the role is the variety and challenge that comes with delivering ambitious projects alongside talented teams, clients and collaborators. Having grown with the company over nearly two decades, he plays a key role in helping shape the way Base Structures delivers increasingly complex projects across the UK and internationally.
