Supporting the Dismantling of a Construction System
We delivered specialist rope access and fabric removal services for the Rising Factory structures at Stratford’s East Village, enabling the safe dismantling of temporary construction enclosures at height.
Project Outline
The Rising Factory concept was used during the construction of two high-rise residential towers at Stratford’s East Village, temporary enclosures that allowed building works to take place in a protected, controlled environment.
Once construction was complete, these large-scale fabric-clad structures, rising to heights of 113m and 127m, needed to be carefully dismantled.
The challenge was significant. The removal process had to be carried out safely at extreme height, within a dense urban environment, and without disrupting the newly completed buildings below. The solution required precise planning, specialist access techniques and a deep understanding of both the original installation and its structural behaviour.

Specialist Rope Access and Controlled Removal
Having previously supported the project during the design development phase of the fabric wrap, we brought detailed knowledge of the system to the dismantling process.
We deployed a team of expert rope access technicians, specialising in working at height, to systematically remove the PVC fabric panels and associated fixings. The temporary enclosures were initially nstalled at low level, and rose with the building as work was carried out.
The removal was carried out in a carefully sequenced manner, ensuring that loads were managed safely and that the structure remained stable throughout the process. Working without reliance on large plant or access equipment, the rope access approach allowed for efficient, controlled dismantling across the full height of both towers.

Safe Removal, Seamless Transition
The dismantling of the Rising Factory structures was completed safely and efficiently, enabling the transition from construction phase to completed residential towers without incident.
By combining early-stage involvement with specialist installation expertise, the project demonstrates the value of continuity across the lifecycle of temporary fabric systems, from design and installation through to removal. It highlights how careful planning and technical understanding can ensure even the most complex temporary structures are managed safely at every stage.
