Rachel Winterton

Director | Head of Finance, HR & Administration

Rachel joined the tensile architecture industry in 1998, starting at Architen as a project management assistant before quickly becoming a central part of the business, supporting teams across the company. In 2002, she joined us as Office Manager, where her interest in people and organisational development led her to specialise in human resources.

After studying HR and achieving a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resources Management alongside MCIPD accreditation, Rachel went on to build a successful HR career in larger corporate organisations including B&Q and PADI EMEA. Her international role at PADI involved leading change management and global alignment programmes across the EMEA territories, giving her extensive experience in organisational development, business transformation and people management at scale.

Rachel later returned to Base Structures and in 2019, she became a Director, taking overall responsibility for business infrastructure, operations and resourcing. She plays a key role in helping shape the company’s strategic direction, focusing on improving efficiency, reducing overheads and supporting the long-term profitability and growth of the business.

A significant part of Rachel’s role involves helping the business scale for increasingly large and international projects. From adapting operational processes to navigating the complexities of overseas working, she enjoys the challenge of supporting teams and projects in fast-moving and demanding environments.

Outside of work, Rachel is a music lover, and spends time attending gigs and festivals, singing as part of a choir and experimenting with music software. Creativity is an important part of her life and she is also interested in women’s health, nutrition and wellbeing, having spent years learning about health, fitness and lifestyle management through personal experience.
