Zaha Hadid ribbon refurbed for world Tour
March, 2011
Following successful outings at the Manchester International Festival 2009 and the Amsterdam Festival 2010, the remarkable Zaha Hadid Pavillion structure continues on its world tour, relocating this time to the Abu Dhabi Festival 2011, in the United Arab Emirates.
After the de-rigg in Denmark, Base Structures were charged with inspecting and storing the Lycra fabric skin prior to its next outing. As a part of our ongoing contract with the Manchester International Festival team that own the ribbon structure, we duly inspected the fabric but noted that it was starting to look a bit tired and travel weary; and so the decision was taken to entirely re-manufacture the fabric thereby returning the ribbon to its original pristine splendour.
The Base Installation team travelled to Abu Dhabi with the newly refurbished fabric to carry out their own impressive performance in rebuilding the acclaimed structure within the purpose built travelling pavilion home. The results once again speak for themselves...
